Why this date - the science
Traditional Ganesha-murtis were made of pure river-clay + natural pigments. Visarjana (immersion in water on the 10th day) returned this clay to the river - closing the ecological cycle. The festival was an annual REDISTRIBUTION of clay across rivers - the riverbed + the soil benefited.
Ayurvedic wisdom
Modaka - steamed rice-flour shell stuffed with grated coconut + jaggery + cardamom. Steaming makes it light + non-aggravating to digestion. Coconut-jaggery is high in healthy fats + iron. After 1-2 days of monsoon-disrupted appetite, the modaka revives digestion gently.

The 10-day household installation creates a SUSTAINED daily ritual + family gathering. Each day at the aarti, the whole household + neighbours convene. By day 10, intense bonding.
